Another pillar central to the project, is the Bioinformatics Pillar, which is devoted to database development on one hand and data processing and analysis on the other. One of the primary requirements is to construct a "pipeline" leading from the raw sequence to database that integrates all that is known about the homologs of a given putative gene product and has features to allow "community-based" curation. Another is to allow easy analysis and interpretation of the massive data generated by the profiling tools. A final objective is the ability to carry out a high level meta-analysis of different types of information generated in the project.
